What makes a good Game Master?
A good Game Master:
1) is an impartial judge,
2) is outgoing and friendly,
3) is helpful to everyone at the convention,
4) leaves any prejudices at the door,
5) has the attitude that every game ever made is a wonderful and fun game to play,
6) is willing to AND has the ability to learn new games and game systems,
7) exhibits adult behavior at all times,
8) is imaginative and inventive, Note: this means that he will have a creative and open mind,
9) is respectful of others,
10) is a leader,
11) does not let players take control of the game, (Remember: You, as the Game Master) are in charge.
12) is flexible,
13) is able to make decisions, Note: Game Masters do not need to go to the Magnate every time there is no established answer or
rule. You make the rulings.
14) is able to use common sense.
Duties of a Game Master:
1) The Game Master oversees his game and makes rulings when needed.
2) The Game Master attempts to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable game.
3) The Game Master must stay out of the way of players having a good time. Remember, it is the player's game experience not the

5) For a game that does not have any participants and/or the registered players failed to show up, the Game Master will wait 30
minutes at his assigned table to see if anyone desires to play that game. If, after 30 minutes, no one has come to play that game,
then the game will be considered canceled. At that time the Game Master will report to his Magnate or someone in charge to
be reassigned.
6) The Game Master will attempt to harmonize the interplay between players.
7) The Game Master will record the games results in a legible report detailing what occurred during the game by filling out the
record sheet provided to him for the game to which he has been assigned.
8) The Game Master will turn in his game report to his Magnate after he has filled it out.
9) The Game Master will report to the proper Magnate when the game ends for further duty assignment.
10) All Game Masters will be clean and have proper hygiene at the beginning of their shift. This includes making sure that your
Duties of a Security Volunteer:
1) The Security Volunteer must first assess any situation that arises.
2) If the situation requires extra help, then the Security Volunteer will obtain extra help (i.e. other Security Volunteers and or the
Security Magnate) to deal with a situation. Remember: never attempt to handle a situation without informing someone about
the situation first.
3) Security Volunteers will be friendly and respectful at all times.
4) The Security Volunteer will address any situation that arises promptly and in the appropriate manner.
5) The Security Volunteer will seek to defuse any and all situations that occur as quickly as possible.
6) The Security Volunteer does not check badges. The Game Masters will do that at the game table.
7) The Security Volunteer will ensure that Texicon attendees are not disruptive.
8) Security Volunteers must always remember that he is here to assisting others.
9) The Main function of all Security Volunteers is making sure that the convention runs smoothly by taking care of small problems
before they become large problems.
10) All Security Volunteers will be clean and have proper hygiene at the beginning of their shift. This includes making sure that

We understand that all our volunteers do not get paid for the time that they volunteer for Texicon. However, we understand that all
our Game Masters run games because they love gaming and our Security Volunteers love ensuring order and peace is maintained.
Thus, we want to give back to them in the way that they gave to the convention. In order to do this, we have decided the following.
Volunteer for 12hrs = Free for whole con
Volunteer for 4 hrs on Friday = Free on Friday
Volunteer for 4 hrs on Sunday = Free on Sunday
Volunteer for 8 hrs on Saturday = Free on Saturday
One day pass: This would be for a day on which a GM does not Volunteer, but would like to attend.
For a GM who volunteers for 4 hrs on Friday, but who does not volunteer on any other day = $10 for a 1 day pass for either
Saturday or Sunday, but not both.
For a GM who volunteers for 4hrs on Sunday, but who does not volunteer on any other day = $10 for a 1 day pass for either Friday
or Saturday, but not both.
For a GM who volunteers for 8hrs on Saturday, but who does not volunteer on any other day = $10 for a 1 day pass for either
Friday or Sunday, but not both.
Two day pass: (i.e. a pass for the days that a GM did not volunteer)
For a GM who volunteers for 4 hrs on Friday, but who does not volunteer on any other day =$15 for a 2 day pass for both Saturday
For a GM who volunteers for 4 hrs on Sunday, but who does not volunteer on any other day =$15 for a 2 day pass for both Friday
For a GM who volunteers for 8 hrs on Saturday, but who does not volunteer on any other day =$15 for a 2 day pass for both Friday
For a Volunteer who volunteers for only 4hrs on Saturday, the rest of Saturday will cost that volunteer $10. The other days will be
full price for this type of Volunteer.

Duties of a Game Magnate:
The Miniatures, Board game, and Role-Play Magnate will find Game Masters to run the games for that area. The Magnate will
create the schedule of when events occur. He must be willing to happily participate in any game that occurs in his area. He will
have to have the skill and knowledge to be able to play any game that can occur in his area. He as to have at least twenty years
experience in gaming. He must be good at managing people. He must be able to be flexible and creative. He must be able to write
well. He must be willing to communicate with Karl Pajak, Kevin Pajak, and Greg Pitts. He must communicate with all three not
just one of them. He will tally the results to determine the winner in his category (i.e. Miniatures, Board Game, Role-Play). He
will re-assign Game Masters whose games have completed early to other games and or areas in need of a Game Master. He must
correspond to all queries in a timely fashion. He must impartially consider all requests for game master positions and all requests
for specific games to be played.
Duties of a Security Magnate:
The Security Magnate must have at least twenty years of experience in the field of security. The Security Magnate must be friendly
and outgoing. The Security Magnate will find people who are capable of being friendly and stern. He must be able to document any
problem that occurs at Texicon in a well written, clear, precise manner. All problems will be brought to the attention of Kevin
Pajak or Karl Pajak. The Security Magnate will be in charge of scheduling all Security Volunteers to the time slots for which they
are needed. The Security Magnate will be in charge of all Security Volunteers. The Security Magnate will move through-out the
convention on occasion, but he will also be free to game as long as his volunteers know where he is.
Duties of a Seminar Magnate:
The Seminar Magnate will find people who are experts to give presentations. An expert is a person who has been gaming for over
ten years in the area he will give the presentation or a person who has extensive knowledge related to history. The Seminar
Magnate will also schedule the presenters. As this convention focuses more on historical aspects, the majority of the speakers will
need to be able to speak about things in this area. You will work closely with Kevin Pajak to ensure proper presenters are chosen.
All presenters are volunteers.
